90th<\/sup> Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo (January 17-23, 2022)<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n
\n

The Monte-Carlo Rally will open the 2022 edition of the World Rally Championship (WRC) from its homebase in Monaco, instead of the usual host-city of Gap since 2014 in the Alps. This was a wish of the Organizing Committee at Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) in order to orchestrate the multiple celebrations of the 90th<\/sup> edition of the most glamourous rally in the world. As 95% of the route has been modified, compared to last year, it will be, more than ever, a perfect mix between conservatism and originality, thanks to a set of very demanding special stages selected in the Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After three days allowed for recce, from Monday January 17 <\/strong>to Wednesday January 19<\/strong>, the official start of the 90th<\/sup> Monte-Carlo Rally<\/strong> is scheduled Thursday January 20 <\/strong>at 06:45pm <\/strong>on the fully renovated and still majestic Casino Square.<\/strong> This first nightly leg will be made of two very well-known stages adding up to 38.45 kilometers: \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Luc\u00e9ram \/ Lantosque\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> (SS1 \u2013 15.20km \u2013 08:18pm)<\/strong> and \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0La Boll\u00e8ne-V\u00e9subie \/ Moulinet \u00bb (SS2 \u2013 23.25km \u2013 09:31pm)<\/strong> will make this an opening \u00ab\u00a0Turini Night 2022\u00bb.<\/p>\n

On Friday January 21<\/strong>, the crews will head for the northern part of Alpes-Maritimes for a second day of racing against the clock totalling 97.86 km of stages, in two loops of three stages next to the Mercantour National Park. There will be a mid-day pause for regrouping and changing tyres in Puget-Th\u00e9niers<\/strong> in the middle of the toughest day of the rally. The stages on the menu will be \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Roure \/ Beuil\u00a0\u00bb (SS3\/6 \u2013 18.33km \u2013 9:14am \/ 2:16pm), \u00ab Guillaumes \/ P\u00e9one \/ Valberg \u00bb (SS4\/7 \u2013 13.49km \u2013 10:17am \/ 3:19pm)<\/strong>, and\u00a0\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Val-de-Chalvagne \/ Entrevaux \u00bb (SS5\/8 \u2013 17.11km \u2013 11:35am\/4:37pm) <\/strong>in order to make sure that this 2nd<\/sup> Leg will be a tough nut to crack!<\/p>\n

Day 3 will be set in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence on Saturday January 22<\/strong> for 92.46 kilometers of stages starting with \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Le Fugeret \/ Thorame-Haute\u00a0\u00bb (SS9 \u2013 16.80km \u2013 8:17am<\/strong>) nicknamed \u00ab\u00a0La Colle Saint-Michel\u00a0\u00bb by specialists. Then a double loop will follow, before and after a mid-day pause in Digne-les-Bains<\/strong> for regrouping and changing tyres. A brand new stage \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Saint-Jeannet \/ Malijai\u00a0\u00bb (SS10\/12 \u2013 17.04km \u2013 10:08am \/ 2:08pm) <\/strong>will be paired with the ominous \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Saint-Geniez \/ Thoard\u00a0\u00bb (SS11\/13 \u2013 20.79km \u2013 11:16am \/ 3:16pm) <\/strong>through Authon and the very demanding Col de Fontbelle, all of this without any possibility of service during the day, which will surely prove exhausting for the remaining crews.<\/p>\n

In order to conclude this 90th<\/sup> edition in style, on Sunday January 23, <\/strong>four stages totalling 67.26 kilometers will be set, without any service allowed, in the north-west of Alpes-Maritimes, close to the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Each stage will be run twice, starting with a new sector \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0La Penne\u00a0\/ Collongues \u00bb (SS14\/16 \u2013 19.37km <\/strong>\u2013 8:45am \/ 10:53am) <\/strong>and continuing with \u00ab\u00a0Brian\u00e7onnet \/ Entrevaux\u00a0\u00bb (SS15\/17 \u2013 14.26km <\/strong>\u2013 10:08am \/ 12:18pm) <\/strong>through Col du Buis and Val-de-Chalvagne, where the second run will be the Power Stage. Remaining crews will then be able to rejoin Monaco <\/strong>around 02:00pm <\/strong>to cross the finish line before attending the traditional Prize Ceremony on Casino Square\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
