92nd<\/sup> MONTE-CARLO RALLY (JANUARY 22-28, 2024*)<\/h2>\n

Back to the heights!<\/h3>\n

With 14 passes on the way, in 17 special stages spread over 5 French departments, the route for this inaugural event of the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) has moved up in latitude as well as altitude, following a strong wish of the Organizing Committee at Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM), hoping for more snow on the roads than in previous editions. <\/strong><\/p>\n

After two and a half strenuous days of recce, from Monday January 22 <\/strong>to Wednesday January 24<\/strong>, all crews allowed to start will operate in real racing conditions from 4:31 pm <\/strong>that Wednesday, during the Shakedown (3.28km)<\/strong>. On the same road portion that was introduced in 2017, Route de la Garde <\/strong>in Gap, <\/strong>a partner city which already played host to the rally from 2014 to 2021.<\/p>\n

The official start <\/strong>of this 92nd<\/sup> edition of Monte-Carlo Rally <\/strong>will be given the next day, Thursday January 25 <\/strong>at 4:52pm<\/strong> on the Casino<\/strong> Square<\/strong> in Monaco<\/strong>. On the menu of the 1st<\/sup> Leg, two timed stages in total darkness for a total of 46.20km, in the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes. These two legendary stages, \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Thoard \/ Saint-Geniez\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> (SS1 \u2013 21.01km \u2013 8:35 pm)<\/strong> and \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Bayons \/ Br\u00e9ziers\u00a0\u00bb (SS2 \u2013 25.19km \u2013 9:58 pm)<\/strong> will serve as reality checks for the expected major players in the championship.<\/p>\n

On Friday January 26<\/strong>, crews will be heading for the East of Gap<\/strong>, where the 2nd<\/sup> Leg will be spread over two departments (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes) for a total of 105.72 timed kilometers. With a loop of three special stages to cover twice, made of \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Saint-L\u00e9ger-les-M\u00e9l\u00e8zes \/ La B\u00e2tie-Neuve\u00a0\u00bb (SS3\/6 \u2013 16.68km \u2013 8:51 am\/2:56 pm)<\/strong>, followed by \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Champcella<\/strong> \/ Saint-Cl\u00e9ment-sur-Durance \u00bb (SS4\/7 \u2013 17.87km \u2013 10:24 am\/4:29 pm) <\/strong>and \u00ab\u00a0La Br\u00e9ole \/ Selonnet\u00a0\u00bb (SS5\/8 \u2013 18.31km \u2013 11:57 am\/6:02 pm), <\/strong>setting up a very intense race day!<\/p>\n

The West of Gap<\/strong> will be on the cards for Saturday January 27 <\/strong>when the 3rd<\/sup> Leg covers three departments (Hautes-Alpes, Dr\u00f4me and Is\u00e8re) for a total of 120.40 timed kilometers. Again, with a loop of three stages not so close to each other, to complete twice, for what will probably be the toughest race day of the week. On the menu, \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Esparron \/ Oze\u00a0\u00bb (SS9\/12 \u2013 18.79km \u2013 8:05 am\/2:05 pm)<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>followed by \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Les Noni\u00e8res \/ Chichilianne\u00a0\u00bb (SS10\/13 \u2013 20.04km \u2013 9:53 am\/3:53 pm) <\/strong>and \u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Pellafol \/ Agni\u00e8res-en-D\u00e9voluy\u00a0\u00bb (SS11\/14 \u2013 21.37km \u2013 11:06 am\/5:06 pm). <\/strong>There will certainly be several ups and downs during this strenuous 3rd<\/sup> Leg.<\/p>\n

In order to conclude the event in style, on Sunday January 28, <\/strong>three stages totalling 52.12 kilometers will be scheduled between Gap<\/strong> and Monaco<\/strong>. This will be a brand-new feature for a Final Leg and the last fights for honours will happen on <\/span>\u00ab\u00a0La Br\u00e9ole \/ Selonnet\u00a0\u00bb (SS15 \u2013 18.31km \u2013 7:04 am)<\/strong>,<\/span> followed by <\/span>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0Digne-les-Bains \/ Chaudon-Norante\u00a0\u00bb (SS16 \u2013 19.01km <\/strong><\/span>\u2013 8:35 am) <\/strong>and<\/span>, last but not least,<\/span> \u00ab\u00a0La Boll\u00e8ne-V\u00e9subie \/ Col de Turini\u00a0\u00bb (SS17 \u2013 14.80km <\/strong><\/span>\u2013 12:15 pm)<\/strong> which will serve as Power Stage.<\/span>The Prize-Giving Ceremony will then take place, as usual, on the Casino Square, <\/strong><\/span>from 4:15 pm\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
