A curtain-raiser tailored to match the stakes of the 2017 FIA WRC ! <\/b><\/h2>\n

The 85<\/b><\/span>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span> Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo, Round 1 of the 2017 FIA World Rally Championship, promises to be an outstanding event as world class carmakers Citro\u00ebn and Toyota return to the series to compete alongside Ford and Hyundai in WRC. To celebrate the occasion, the organising committee of the Automobile Club de Monaco has concocted a particularly inspiring route, more than 85 percent of which will be new compared with the 2016 event.<\/b><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Following two-and-a-half-days of recce from 8am on Monday, January 16, 2017<\/b>, to 2pm on Wednesday, January 18<\/b>, crews will get a chance to make last-minute adjustments to their respective cars on the shakedown<\/b> which kicks off at 4pm. The 3.35km test will use the same portion of road as last January, while Gap<\/b> will host the event\u2019s service park \u2013 alongside the town\u2019s swimming complex \u2013 for the fourth year running.<\/span>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/b>85<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span> running of the sport\u2019s longest-standing fixture will start officially<\/b> at 6:15pm on Thursday, January 19,<\/b> in Monte Carlo\u2019s celebrated Casino Square. That will be followed by two challenging night-time stages, namely Entrevaux-Val de Chalvagne-Ubraye (SS1, 21.25km)<\/b> and Bayons-Br\u00e9ziers (SS2, 25.49km) <\/b>in France\u2019s <\/b>Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The competition on Day 2 \u2013 the longest of the rally \u2013 on Friday, January 20<\/b>, will take crews north of Gap<\/b> for 160km of against-the-clock driving with two attempts at a lengthy, yet compact suite of three stages in France\u2019s Hautes-Alpes and Is\u00e8re administrative regions. The three stages are Agni\u00e8res en D\u00e9voluy-Le Motty (SS3\/6, 24.63km), Aspres l\u00e8s Corps-Chaillol (SS4\/7, 38.94km) <\/b>and Saint L\u00e9ger les M\u00e9l\u00e8zes-Ancelle-La B\u00e2tie Neuve (SS5\/8, 16.83km).<\/b><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Survivors face an equally gruelling third day on Saturday, January 21<\/b>, which will feature a new-look loop comprising Lardier et Valen\u00e7a-Oze (SS9\/11, 31.17km) <\/b>and La B\u00e2tie Monsaleon-Faye (SS10\/12, 16.78km)<\/b>, both to be contested twice each. <\/b>After the week\u2019s second visit to Bayons-Br\u00e9ziers for SS13 (25.49km)<\/b>, <\/b>crews will <\/b>service in Gap for the final time before driving to the Principality of Monaco <\/b>where the first cars are due to arrive early evening.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The opening round of the season will conclude with Day 4 on\u00a0Sunday, January 22<\/b>, when four more stages totalling 53,72 km are scheduled \u2013 with no opportunity to service \u2013 in the Alps that tower over the French Riviera. Competitors have to run twice Luceram-Col Saint Roch (SS14\/16, 5.50km<\/b>) and La Boll\u00e8ne V\u00e9subie-Peira Cava (SS15\/17, 21.36km)<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 the version of the famous\u00a0Col de Turini used in 2016. This one will be the\u00a0Power Stage.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
