{"id":10581375,"date":"2020-07-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-16T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acm.mc\/89th-rallye-monte-carlo\/"},"modified":"2020-07-17T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-07-16T22:00:00","slug":"89th-rallye-monte-carlo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acm.mc\/en\/89th-rallye-monte-carlo\/","title":{"rendered":"89th Rallye Monte-Carlo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>From 18 to 24 January 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">A special birthday edition with brand new features!<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The 89<sup>th<\/sup> Monte-Carlo Rally, opening round of the 2021 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), has been organized around Gap (Hautes-Alpes) -Sebastien Ogier\u2019s birthplace- since 2014, as well as in the neighbouring departments of Alpes de Haute-Provence, Dr\u00f4me and Is\u00e8re, in order to boost a menu which looks even more hearty for the happy drivers who will enter the 2021 edition : over 85% of the route has been changed, compared to the previous edition, and the 2021 program is a brand new \u00a0mix of difficulties, alternating classic stages and new portions. This was a wish of the Organizing Committee at Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) and the grand finale will take place, as always, in the Alpes-Maritimes. Then it will be time to celebrate at the Prize Ceremony in Monte-Carlo, for the 110<sup>th<\/sup>anniversary of the most ancient rally in the world \u2026 <\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After two and a half days of recce, from <strong>Monday January 18 <\/strong>to <strong>Wednesday January 20<\/strong>, the crews allowed to start the rally will be able to test in race conditions on <strong>Thursday January 21<\/strong> from <strong>9:01 am,<\/strong> at the <strong>Shakedown (3.35km)<\/strong>, the set-up session which has remained the same since 2016, on the <strong>Route de la Garde <\/strong>in<strong> Gap.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The official start of the 89<sup>th<\/sup> Monte-Carlo<\/strong> <strong>Rally<\/strong>will be given that same <strong>Thursday January 21 <\/strong>from <strong>6:10 pm<\/strong> onwards at <strong>Gap\/Fontreyne <\/strong>Service Park. The menu of this first nightly leg consists of two special stages for a total timed section of 41.42km in the departments of Hautes-Alpes and Is\u00e8re: <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Saint-Disdier \/ Corps\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> <strong>(SS1 \u2013 20.58km \u2013 7:08 pm)<\/strong> in the D\u00e9voluy area, then <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Saint-Maurice \/ Saint-Bonnet\u00a0\u00bb (SS2 \u2013 20.84km \u2013 8:06 pm)<\/strong> in the Valgaudemar area, will serve as revealing previews of other difficulties to come in the next three days..<\/p>\n<p>On<strong> Friday January 22<\/strong>, crews will be heading west of <strong>Gap<\/strong> for Race Day 2, spread over two departments (Hautes-Alpes and Dr\u00f4me) for a total timed section of 127.70km. With a loop of three remote special stages to run twice in a row, this will certainly be the toughest day of the rally, on unchartered territory: three novel stages called <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Aspremont \/ La B\u00e2tie-des-Fonts \u00bb (SS3\/6 \u2013 19.72km \u2013 8:36 am\/2:58 pm)<\/strong>, <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Chalancon \/ Gumiane\u00a0\u00bb (SS4\/7 \u2013 21.69km \u2013 9:54 am\/4:16 pm) <\/strong>and <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Montauban-sur-l\u2019Ouv\u00e8ze \/ Villebois-les-Pins \u00bb (SS5\/8 \u2013 22.44km \u2013 11:27 am\/5:59 pm), <\/strong>all of this amounting to a very demanding 2<sup>nd<\/sup> leg!<\/p>\n<p>The next day, on <strong>Saturday January 23<\/strong>, crews will be heading east of <strong>Gap <\/strong>for Race Day 3 and a total timed section of 81.16km which promises to be just as tough as the previous days. It will all start with a stage inaugurated last January, <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Saint-Cl\u00e9ment \/ Freissini\u00e8res \u00bb (SS9 \u2013 20.68km \u2013 10:38 am) <\/strong>before going up in the superb heights of the Serre-Pon\u00e7on Lake through <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Saint-Apollinaire \/ Embrun\u00a0\u00bb (SS10 \u2013 21.43km \u2013 12:15 pm)<\/strong> and coming back to the Durance valley for a second running of <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Saint-Cl\u00e9ment \/ Freissini\u00e8res \u00bb (SS11 \u2013 20.68km \u2013 2:08 pm). <\/strong>After one last break at <strong>Gap\/Fontreyne<\/strong>Service Park, in the middle of the afternoon, the last stage of the day will be <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>La Br\u00e9ole \/ Selonnet\u00a0\u00bb (SS12 \u2013 18.37km \u2013 6:09 pm). <\/strong>All remaining crews will then head for the <strong>Principality of Monaco <\/strong>where they will be expected early in the evening\u2026 without any service allowed\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>The final leg of this 110<sup>th<\/sup>anniversary edition, on the morning of <strong>Sunday January 24<\/strong>, will consist of four special stages for a total timed section of 59.6km, still without service, in the steep hills of the Alpes-Maritimes department. This brand new final leg will be a pair of loops made of <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>La Ma\u00efris \/ Moulinet\u00a0\u00bb (SS13\/15 \u2013 16.70km <\/strong><strong>\u2013 8:42 am\/10:38 am<\/strong><strong>) <\/strong>and <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Col Saint-Jean \/ Col de l\u2019Orme\u00a0\u00bb (SS14\/16 \u2013 13.10km <\/strong><strong>\u2013 9:38 am\/12:18 pm<\/strong><strong>)<\/strong> where the second pass will provide Power Stage bonus points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Provisional schedule and stage lengths until the official route is published.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>Monaco, July 17, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From 18 to 24 January 2021 A special birthday edition with brand new features!
