{"id":10581392,"date":"2021-01-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-01-15T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acm.mc\/behind-closed-doors-and-curfew-respect\/"},"modified":"2021-01-16T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-01-15T23:00:00","slug":"behind-closed-doors-and-curfew-respect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acm.mc\/en\/behind-closed-doors-and-curfew-respect\/","title":{"rendered":"Behind closed doors and curfew respect!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">89<sup>th<\/sup> Monte-Carlo Rally (January 18-24, 2021)<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><strong>In order to fight the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, the Organizing Committee of the 89<sup>th<\/sup> Monte-Carlo Rally &#8211; in agreement with the FIA, the Promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC) and all the local Authorities involved &#8211; has decided to allow no spectator whatsoever on and around the event. It will then be organized behind closed doors, as was the case in Turkey and Sardinia at the end of the previous season.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sanitary rules of the departments involved will be respected, as well as the medical and sporting regulations, and strict control of the starting and finishing areas of the special stages will be enforced, as well as the service park and the regrouping areas. There will be no spectator area along the stages.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule of the event have also been reorganized, in order to respect scrupulously the curfew in force. So after three days of recce, from <strong>Monday January 18 <\/strong>to <strong>Wednesday January 20<\/strong>, the 84 crews allowed to participate to the rally will start from <strong>Gap<\/strong>, where the kick-off <strong>of the 89<sup>th<\/sup> Monte-Carlo<\/strong> <strong>Rally<\/strong> will be given <strong>Thursday January 21 <\/strong>from <strong>1:10 pm<\/strong> onwards at <strong>Fontreyne <\/strong>Service Park. The menu of this first day &amp; night leg consists of two special stages for a total timed section of 41.36km in the departments of Hautes-Alpes and Is\u00e8re: <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Saint-Disdier \/ Corps\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> <strong>(SS1 \u2013 20.58km \u2013 2:08 pm)<\/strong> in the D\u00e9voluy area, then <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Saint-Maurice \/ Saint-Bonnet\u00a0\u00bb (SS2 \u2013 20.78km \u2013 3:06 pm)<\/strong> in the Valgaudemar area, will serve as revealing previews of other difficulties to come in the next three days..<\/p>\n<p>On<strong> Friday January 22<\/strong>, crews will be heading west of <strong>Gap<\/strong> for Race Day 2, spread over two departments (Hautes-Alpes and Dr\u00f4me) for a total timed section of 104.70km. With a loop of three remote special stages to run twice in a row, this will certainly be the toughest day of the rally, on unchartered territory: three novel stages called <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Aspremont \/ La B\u00e2tie-des-Fonts \u00bb (SS3\/6 \u2013 19.61km \u2013 6:10 am\/12:17 pm)<\/strong>, <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Chalancon \/ Gumiane\u00a0\u00bb (SS4\/7 \u2013 21.62km \u2013 7:28 am\/1:38 pm) <\/strong>and <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Montauban-sur-l\u2019Ouv\u00e8ze \/ Villebois-les-Pins \u00bb (SS5\/8 \u2013 22.24km \u2013 09:01 am\/Cancelled), <\/strong>all of this amounting to a very demanding 2<sup>nd<\/sup> leg!<\/p>\n<p>The next day, on <strong>Saturday January 23<\/strong>, crews will be heading east of <strong>Gap <\/strong>for Race Day 3 and a total timed section of 57.10km which promises to be just as tough as the previous days. It will all start with <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>La Br\u00e9ole \/ Selonnet\u00a0\u00bb (SS9 \u2013 18.31km \u2013 6:30 am) <\/strong>followed by a stage inaugurated last January, <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Saint-Cl\u00e9ment \/ Freissini\u00e8res \u00bb (SS10 \u2013 20.48km \u2013 08:18 am). <\/strong>After one last break at <strong>Gap\/Fontreyne<\/strong> Service Park, in the start of the afternoon, the last stage of the day will be again <strong>\u00ab<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>La Br\u00e9ole \/ Selonnet\u00a0\u00bb (SS11 \u2013 18.31km \u2013 12:08 pm). <\/strong>All remaining crews will then head for the <strong>Principality of Monaco <\/strong>where they will be expected middle in the afternoon\u2026 without any service allowed\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>The final leg of this 110<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary edition, on the morning of <strong>Sunday January 24<\/strong>, four special stages for a total of 54.48 km will be organized, for the first 50 classified, without service, in the hills of the North-West of the Alpes-Maritimes and the South-East of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence departments.
