{"id":10593580,"date":"2023-07-24T11:26:19","date_gmt":"2023-07-24T09:26:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acm.mc\/retour-vers-les-hauteurs\/"},"modified":"2023-07-24T11:31:48","modified_gmt":"2023-07-24T09:31:48","slug":"back-to-the-heights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acm.mc\/en\/back-to-the-heights\/","title":{"rendered":"Back to the heights!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>With 14 passes on the way, in 17 special stages spread over 5 French departments, the route for this inaugural event of the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) has moved up in latitude as well as altitude, following a strong wish of the Organizing Committee at Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM), hoping for more snow on the roads than in previous editions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After two and a half strenuous days of recce, from <strong>Monday January 22<\/strong> to <strong>Wednesday January 24<\/strong>, all crews allowed to start will operate in real racing conditions from <strong>4:01 pm<\/strong> that Wednesday, during the <strong>Shakedown (3.35km).<\/strong> On the same road portion that was introduced in 2017, <strong>Route de la Garde<\/strong> in <strong>Gap<\/strong>, a partner city which already played host to the rally from 2014 to 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>official start<\/strong> of this <strong>92<sup>nd<\/sup> edition of Monte-Carlo Rally<\/strong> will be given the next day, <strong>Thursday January 25<\/strong> at <strong>4:52pm<\/strong> on <strong>Casino Square<\/strong> in <strong>Monaco<\/strong>. On the menu of the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Leg, two timed stages in total darkness for a total of 46.01km, in the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes. These two legendary stages, <strong>\u00ab Thoard \/ Saint-Geniez \u00bb (SS1 \u2013 20.82km \u2013 8:35 pm)<\/strong> and <strong>\u00ab Bayons \/ Br\u00e9ziers \u00bb (SS2 \u2013 25.19km \u2013 9:58 pm)<\/strong> will serve as reality checks for the expected major players in the championship.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Friday January 26<\/strong>, crews will be heading for the East of Gap, where the 2nd Leg will be spread over two departments (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes) for a total of 106.10 timed kilometers. With a loop of three special stages to cover twice, made of <strong>\u00ab Saint-L\u00e9ger-les-M\u00e9l\u00e8zes \/ La B\u00e2tie-Neuve \u00bb (SS3\/6 \u2013 16.87km \u2013 9:06 am\/2:53 pm)<\/strong>, followed by <strong>\u00ab Champcella \/ Saint-Cl\u00e9ment-sur-Durance \u00bb (SS4\/7 \u2013 17.87km \u2013 10:34 am\/4:21 pm)<\/strong> and <strong>\u00ab La Br\u00e9ole \/ Selonnet \u00bb (SS5\/8 \u2013 18.31km \u2013 12:02 pm\/5:49 pm)<\/strong>, setting up a very intense race day!<\/p>\n<p>The West of <strong>Gap<\/strong> will be on the cards for <strong>Saturday January 27<\/strong> when the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Leg covers three departments (Hautes-Alpes, Dr\u00f4me, Is\u00e8re) for a total of 134.86 timed kilometers. Again, with a loop of three stages not so close to each other, to complete twice, for what will probably be the toughest race day of the week. On the menu, <strong>\u00ab Sigottier \/ Valdr\u00f4me \u00bb (SS9\/12 \u2013 20.89km \u2013 8:35 am\/2:05 pm),<\/strong> followed by <strong>\u00ab Les Noni\u00e8res \/ Chichilianne \u00bb (SS10\/13 \u2013 20.08km \u2013 9:53 am\/3:23 pm)<\/strong> and <strong>\u00ab Pellafol \/ Agni\u00e8res-en-D\u00e9voluy \u00bb (SS11\/14 \u2013 26.46km \u2013 11:06 am\/4:36 pm)<\/strong>. There will certainly be several ups and downs during this strenuous 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Leg.<\/p>\n<p>In order to conclude the event in style, on <strong>Sunday January 28<\/strong>, three stages totalling 51.65 kilometers will be scheduled between <strong>Gap<\/strong> and <strong>Monaco<\/strong>. This will be a brand new feature for a Final Leg and the last fights for honours will happen on <strong>\u00ab La Br\u00e9ole \/ Selonnet \u00bb (SS15 \u2013 18.31km \u2013 7:04 am)<\/strong>, followed by <strong>\u00ab Digne-les-Bains \/ Chaudon-Norante \u00bb (SS16 \u2013 19.04km \u2013 8:35 am)<\/strong> and, last but not least, <strong>\u00ab La Boll\u00e8ne-V\u00e9subie \/ Col de Turini \u00bb (SS17 \u2013 14.30km \u2013 12:15 pm)<\/strong> which will serve as Power Stage. The Prize Ceremony will then take place, as usual, on <strong>Casino Square<\/strong>, from <strong>4:15 pm<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Timings and stage lengths are indicative until official
