The Automobile Club de Monaco is pleased to announce that one of its most dedicated members, Jean-Michel Matas, has received the 2025 FIA Lifetime Achievement Award, a distinction granted by the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de l\u2019Automobile (FIA) in recognition of exceptional commitment to motor sport.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Through its 2025 Awards for Volunteers and Officials, the FIA honours individuals around the world who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that events are conducted safely, fairly and to the highest professional standards.<\/p>\n

Recognised for 53 years of service<\/strong> within the ACM, Jean-Michel Matas, former Deputy General Commissioner in charge of the Corps of Marshals, led and trained the Club\u2019s volunteer teams and contributed to all major motor sport events held in the Principality. The handover took place in June 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

FIA Lifetime Achievement Award<\/h4>\n

Jean Michel Matas is celebrated for an extraordinary 53-year career at the Automobile Club de Monaco. As Deputy General Commissioner, in charge of the Corps of Marshals, he led and trained the world-famous team of Monaco volunteers, contributing to every major event in the Principality from Formula 1 Grand Prix to the Rallye Monte-Carlo.<\/p>\n

He has dedicated decades to Race Control, where his leadership, discipline and deep institutional knowledge became foundational to the Monaco officiating culture. Widely admired for his mentorship and commitment to excellence, he remains a respected adviser and a cornerstone of Monaco\u2019s legendary motor sport culture.<\/p>\n
