Nyck de Vries (Mahindra Racing) won the 10th<\/sup> Monaco E-Prix this Saturday. The Dutch driver finished ahead of Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) and Josep Maria Mart\u00ed (Cupra Kiro).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting from second on the grid, Nyck de Vries<\/strong> (Mahindra Racing<\/strong>) claimed his first victory in the Principality during the 10th<\/sup> Monaco E-Prix<\/strong>, as well as the fifth Formula E win of his career. The Dutch driver finished ahead of Mitch Evans<\/strong> (Jaguar TCS Racing<\/strong>) and Josep Maria Mart\u00ed<\/strong> (Cupra Kiro<\/strong>) who benefited from a penalty handed to his teammate Dan Ticktum. With this result, Mitch Evans takes the lead in the world championship standings.<\/p>\n

Thousands of spectators and numerous personalities on the starting grid witnessed this thrilling race. Among them were Carlos Sainz Jr<\/strong>., Nico H\u00fclkenberg<\/strong>, Gabriel Bortoleto<\/strong>, Christian Horner<\/strong> and Flavio Briatore<\/strong>, representing the Formula 1 paddock. French driver Doriane Pin<\/strong>, recently announced as a development driver for Citro\u00ebn Racing, was also in attendance.<\/p>\n

Dan Ticktum<\/strong> (Cupra Kiro<\/strong>), the surprise pole-sitter after defeating Nyck de Vries in their qualifying duel on Saturday morning, controlled the opening phase of the race. After making a strong start, he controlled the pace from the front. The early stages of the race were marked by a brief Safety Car intervention following an incident between Nick Cassidy (Citro\u00ebn Racing) and Jake Dennis (Andretti Formula E) at the Nouvelle Chicane.<\/p>\n

As the strategic battle unfolded, the pole-sitter and race leader ultimately lost out. On lap 19, he completed his Pit Boost but rejoined in fourth place behind Nyck de Vries, Mitch Evans and Ant\u00f3nio F\u00e9lix da Costa. Nyck de Vries then moved into the lead after making his stop four laps earlier.<\/p>\n

A decisive strategy<\/h3>\n

The Mahindra Racing driver stayed ahead of the two Jaguar TCS Racing cars, which are unable to challenge the leader. Behind them, Dan Ticktum closes in on the leading trio and overtakes Ant\u00f3nio F\u00e9lix da Costa on lap 25. But two laps later, the Jaguar driver attempts to retake third position and makes contact with Ticktum at the Nouvelle Chicane. The Portuguese driver is forced to retire, prompting the deployment of a Full Course Yellow.<\/p>\n

Nyck de Vries ultimately cruised to a strategic victory thanks to strong Pit Boost management. \u201cIf the opportunity arises, we are comfortable to lead<\/em>,\u201d his engineer told him on lap 12, a prediction that ultimately came true for Mahindra, which secured its first victory in the Principality !<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love to add some wins to our name and to do it together, to give the team the reward they really deserve for all their hard work and also just giving me an incredible car today<\/em>,\u201d said the race winner. \u201cWe’ve come from far and improved a lot and I think we showed strong performance for a long time.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n
