Kimi Antonelli is the winner of the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026 ! The Mercedes driver has secured his fifth consecutive victory ! The podium is rounded out by Lewis Hamilton (2nd) and Isack Hadjar (3rd).<\/strong><\/p>\n

What a race we had at the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026 !<\/strong> In a nail-biting finish, Kimi Antonelli<\/strong> took a brilliant victory to become the youngest winner in Monaco\u2019s history. The race was full of dramatic twists and turns, from a flurry of penalties to the retirements of Max Verstappen<\/strong> and Charles Leclerc<\/strong>. The standings were completely shaken up behind an imperious leader. A look back at a wild race, from the first to the last lap<\/p>\n

Kimi is unstoppable<\/h3>\n

At just 19 years, 9 months, and 13 days, Kimi Antonelli<\/strong> didn\u2019t just win a race, he wrote one of the most sensational chapters in the modern era of Formula 1<\/strong>. He has now surpassed Lewis Hamilton, crowned at the age of 23 years, 4 months, and 18 days on the Rock, to set the new record for the youngest winner. He also ended Italy\u2019s 22-year wait by succeeding Jarno Trulli<\/strong> (2004). With this fifth consecutive victory, the young prodigy is in a league of his own.<\/p>\n

Beyond the personal achievement, this demonstration of strength feels like a true breakthrough for Mercedes<\/strong>. Thanks to its new rising star, the team led by Toto Wolff<\/strong> has finally returned to the top step of the podium in Monaco. It\u2019s the first time since Hamilton<\/strong>\u2019s last victory here in 2019.<\/p>\n

This unchallenged dominance is starkly evident in the gulf between him and his teammate George Russell<\/strong>, who left the Principality without a single point after a grueling weekend. The Italian, meanwhile, swept everything in his path with disconcerting mastery. \u201cOnce I took the lead and found myself in P1 at the first corner, all I had to do was enjoy the final laps,\u201d<\/em> was his analysis at the finish.<\/p>\n

Now leading the championship with a comfortable 64-point lead over Lewis Hamilton, Antonelli is already setting the tone for what\u2019s to come : \u201cThe season is still long, and we must continue to fight and keep raising the bar. Mechanics and penalties call the shots<\/h3>\n

This race was marked above all by a veritable mechanical disaster. The tone was set the moment the lights went out : let down by an engine that couldn\u2019t rev up, Max Verstappen<\/strong> was stuck on the grid. It was the start of a disastrous Sunday where reliability was generally lacking, striking one after another : Valtteri Bottas<\/strong>, Oliver Bearman<\/strong>, and then Lando Norris<\/strong>\u2019s McLaren<\/strong> midway through the race.<\/p>\n

Even among the survivors, mechanical issues caused some heart-stopping moments. Isack Hadjar<\/strong> had to fight hard for his podium finish, dealing early on with a faulty gearbox and a car he himself described as \u201cundriveable\u201d<\/em> at times. A true string of breakdowns that served as a harsh reminder that the day\u2019s first challenge was simply to keep a car running.<\/p>\n

In a more unusual turn of events, a flurry of speeding penalties also rained down on the pit lane. Lewis Hamilton<\/strong> kicked things off on lap 34 with a five-second penalty, quickly followed by George Russell<\/strong>. The trouble then spread throughout the field : Franco Colapinto<\/strong>, Pierre Gasly<\/strong>, and Oscar Piastri<\/strong> were each penalized by race control for the same infraction.<\/p>\n

A harrowing finish<\/h3>\n

The chaos reached its peak on lap 66. Just as the safety car had pulled in, Charles Leclerc<\/strong> spun off the track in his Ferrari<\/strong> in the final corner. Furious at this retirement on home ground, the Monegasque driver lambasted a total and \u201cunacceptable\u201d<\/em> failure of his rear brakes on a car that had become \u201cundriveable.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 This incident caused the race to be interrupted by a red flag, temporarily halting the action before an explosive final sprint.<\/p>\n

The last standing start provided one more thrill for the Principality. While the imperious Kimi Antonelli<\/strong> maintained the lead with clinical composure, the rest of the field once again fell apart. George Russell<\/strong> dropped to a distant 14th place after serving his penalty.<\/p>\n

Isack Hadjar<\/strong>, who was briefly shaken up at the restart, held his ground. Overcoming mechanical issues, the Frenchman pulled off a monumental effort to secure third place. \u201cBeing on the podium with Lewis is a dream,\u201d<\/em> he savored at the finish, bringing a totally crazy Grand Prix to a perfect close.<\/p>\n

Update \u2013 June 12, 2026:<\/span> Following a successful Right of Review submitted by Alpine, the FIA overturned the penalties imposed on Pierre Gasly. The French driver therefore regained his third-place finish in the Monaco Grand Prix, while Isack Hadjar was reclassified fourth.<\/strong><\/div>\n

The new trophies for the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026<\/strong> were presented on the podium by TT. SS. HH. Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Charl\u00e8ne<\/strong>, and Me Michel Boeri<\/strong>, President of the Automobile Club de Monaco. Following the ceremonies, Kimi Antonelli<\/strong> carried on the new Monegasque tradition by diving into Port Hercule. The race winner will attend the Grand Prix Gala organized by the ACM this evening.<\/p>\n
