Race B, Free Practice : two Maseratis in the Top 3

Maserati dominated the 1st practice session for Race B, since Spaniard Guillermo Fierro-Eleta posted an excellent time of 2min 0 sec 186/1000 in his 250 F, ahead of Britain’s Max Smith Hilliard whose Lotus 16 then broke down and came back to the paddock freewheeling, with a silent engine, and the gearbox was immediately dismantled in order to be replaced. The third best time was also for a Maserati 250 F, the beautiful white car of a very happy Martin Halusa.
