Monte-Carlo 2022: Closure of Registrations

The registration period for the 90th Monte Carlo Automobile Rally (20-23 January 2022) ended at midnight on Friday 17 December. In total, more than 100 entries were received. As the maximum number of entries for this event is limited to 75, in accordance with the Supplementary Regulations of the event, the Organising Committee will have to meet in the next few days to make a selection

The official entry list will be published on Monday 10th January 2022. However, we can already note the presence of many famous drivers in the WRC category.

The 8-Times World Rally Champion, Sébastien Ogier, will once again be in contention for a 9th victory on the Monte-Carlo Rally, at the wheel of the new YARIS RALLY1 with the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team. For the first time, the French Driver will be teamed up with Benjamin Veillas, who will take the place of Julien Ingrassia just retired from rallying. The Japanese firm completes its list with the 2020 & 2021 World Vice-champions, Elfyn Evans / Scott Martin (2nd in 2021 Monte-Carlo), Kalle Rovanperä / Jonne Halttunen (4th in 2021) and Takamoto Katsuta / Daniel Barritt.

For Hyundai Motorsport, 3 Hyundai i20 N RALLY1 have been entered, with the Estonian duo, 2019 World Champions, Ott Tänak / Martin Järveoja. They will be competing for a first Monte-Carlo victory. Meanwhile, Belgian and 2020 Monte Carlo Rally winner Thierry Neuville will be present on the start line. But the identity of his co-driver is still up in the air. Martijn Wydaeghe, who suffered a shoulder injury during the winter tests, is currently recovering.  Finally, let’s note the presence of a third car entered by the young hopeful Oliver Solberg associated with Elliott Edmondson

Finally, the M-Ford Team will enter 3 or 4 crews with Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1s, whose names will be officially announced next week.
