Kris Meeke has set the fastest time of the shakedown, the first time trial of the 84th Rallye de Monte-Carlo. The Citroen DS3’s driver signed the best time in 2.07.2, two tenths quicker than the third world champion Sébastien Ogier.
Dani Sordo (3’4) completed the shakedown’s top 3 for the first official race of the new Hyundai i20 despite motor problems during his first run. The Spanish finished ahead his team mate the Belgium Thierry Neuville (3’8) and the two Volkswagen boys Andreas Mikkelsen (4’7) and Jari-Matti Latvala (5,4) closely followed by the former F1 driver Robert Kubica (5’9).
The rookie Stéphane Lefebvre (6’9) took a good 8th time seven seconds slower of the best time. Mads Ostberg (7’9) signed the 9th time of the day while the revelation of the last championship, the New Zealander Hayden Paddon (8’2), completed the top 10 of this shakedown.
