Anthony Beltoise will pay tribute to his father Jean-Pierre with the MATRA MS 120

Twice French GT Champion and three-time winner of the Porsche Carrera Cup France, Anthony Beltoise will pay tribute to his father Jean-Pierre at the tenth Monaco Historic Grand Prix.

From May 13th to 15th, the French driver will take to the track on board a MATRA MS 120, the car that his father drove during the 1970 season of the Formula 1 World Championship.

Beltoise. Matra. Monaco . Three names that have marked motorsport history. Three names that will be once again reunited in a couple of weeks.

To honour the memory of his father, Anthony Beltoise indeed decided to take part in the tenth Monaco Historic Grand Prix with the MATRA MS 120, the car Jean-Pierre Beltoise competed with in thirteen Formula 1 Grand Prix back in 1970.

At the time, the French champion, who was racing under the colours of Matra Elf team, had scored 16 points and finished in 9th place. In the Principality of Monaco , he had started from the third row, rank six, on the starting grid, before having had to withdraw. In the bucket seat of the single-seater powered by the V12 Matra, Anthony Beltoise will be writing a portion of history again.

Through this history, Jean-Pierre Beltoise won once in Monaco , in 1972, while his father and Matra united their destinies over several seasons. First of all in F1, from 1966 to 1971, for a total of 46 grand prix.

“My father was an example to me. He was strong, brave, determined and stubborn but also humble and wise. His life as a driver, his career and his exploits, just like those of many other people, have inspired me to live the same passion” Anthony Beltoise confides. “I wanted to follow his footsteps and to become a driver, which I have now been for 20 years. That’s thanks to him and I really wanted to pay tribute to him: Monaco and Matra have quickly made sense to do so. It will be really moving to drive that car on such a legendary track. It will be full of symbols and meanings for my father and his relatives.”
