On the occasion of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), the Automobile Club de Monaco took action to raise awareness of responsible consumption and waste reduction through a series of concrete initiatives. Result: 140 kg of waste collected, thanks to the involvement of our staff and committed partners.
Each year, EWWR brings people together around a shared goal: reducing the amount of waste produced and encouraging more sustainable practices. The week highlights initiatives that are accessible to everyone, promoting sorting, reuse, recycling, and more mindful consumption. For the 2025 edition, the theme focused on WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), a major environmental challenge.
To fully embrace this dynamic, ACM rolled out several complementary initiatives related to the theme of EWWR 2025 throughout this week.
Within ACM, and in collaboration with the Green Monaco association, a WEEE collection drive was organized. Phones, tablets, chargers, earphones, and other unused electronic devices were gathered.
This initiative aims to reduce electronic waste, encourage recycling or refurbishment, and give a second life to equipment that can still be used. 115 kg of waste collected.
To extend this effort outdoors, a waste-picking morning was organized on the « Sentier des Douaniers » (Monaco – Roquebrune-Cap-Martin section) with the aim of raising awareness about protecting natural environments and to take local action. 7 kg of waste collected.
EWWR is also about awareness. An information session followed by a friendly quiz was offered to ACM staff. The objective: to better understand proper sorting habits and the specifics of electrical and electronic waste recycling, in a fun and collective way.
Finally, old products belonging to staff and volunteers were recovered as part of upcycling projects, which have been in place at ACM for several years.
This initiative fully aligns with a circular economy approach and more sustainable consumption. 18 kg of clothing collected, representing 66 items.
EWWR 2025 was an opportunity to remind everyone that every action counts. Thanks to the mobilization of our teams and the support of partners such as Green Monaco, these initiatives helped us collect waste, raise awareness, and take meaningful steps for the environment.
Together, let’s commit for the future!
