The Ferrari Dino 246 with its V6 front engine was the first car to break the silence of the paddock on Friday morning, on Monaco harbour, a few hours before it took the track for the first testing sessions of Race B. The sound of this Italian V6 engine gave goosepumps to a handful of passionate observers who listened religiously, as if they were attending an opera at the Scala da Milano. This car was produced in 1960, three weeks after the Monaco GP and was exclusively driven that year by American World Champion Phil Hill who won in Monza. It was the last win for a front-engine single-seater in the Formula 1 World Championship.
