Home » Race D, Free Practice : the Lotus 21 less than two minutes
The first driver this week-end to clock a lap in less than two minutes was Mark Shaw, in his Lotus 21 powered by a Climax engine, built in 1961, who dominated the 1st free practice session for Race D in 1 minut 53 seconds and 199/1000. This is almost ten seconds quicker than Frenchman Philippe Bonny in a Brabham BT2 with a Ford engine. Bonny was followed on the timesheet by two other cars (model 24) of the mythical brand founded by Colin Chapman, driven by Switzerland’s Philipp Buhofer and Australia’s Stephan Jobstl.
