Theatre of the 73th edition of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Principality also hosts the second MONACO MOUSETRAP RACE this year Friday 22 May at 4:30 pm. Jointly organized by the Automobile Club de Monaco , Engeco, Riva or the STARS’N’BARS, the international race only get together small cars powered by a mousetrap mechanism.
Supported by the Principality National Education Direction, this educational program is the promotion of science and engineering. Ten teams, each forming of students aged 14 to 18 and their teachers, will battle near the paddock club.
Put under the High Patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco , this original and entertaining race will take place in Riva tunnel located on the Quai Antoine 1er. While the big majority of the finalists come from Italian schools, two of them will represent the colour of the Principality and FANB High school.
Invented by the Italian engineer Marco Casiraghi, the event saw Mattia Zoffoli from the Bologna Malpighi High school triumph last year with his prototype named « Flea ». The small car of the Italian student had travelled 63, 80 meters against 60, 24 meters at its closest rival Andrea Digiuliantonio high school student of Ventimilia.
