Beltoise. Matra. Monaco . Three names that have marked motorsport history. Three names that will be once again reunited in a couple of weeks.
To honour the memory of his father, Anthony Beltoise indeed decided to take part in the tenth Monaco Historic Grand Prix with the MATRA MS 120, the car Jean-Pierre Beltoise competed with in thirteen Formula 1 Grand Prix back in 1970.
At the time, the French champion, who was racing under the colours of Matra Elf team, had scored 16 points and finished in 9th place. In the Principality of Monaco , he had started from the third row, rank six, on the starting grid, before having had to withdraw. In the bucket seat of the single-seater powered by the V12 Matra, Anthony Beltoise will be writing a portion of history again.
Through this history, Jean-Pierre Beltoise won once in Monaco , in 1972, while his father and Matra united their destinies over several seasons. First of all in F1, from 1966 to 1971, for a total of 46 grand prix.
“My father was an example to me. He was strong, brave, determined and stubborn but also humble and wise. His life as a driver, his career and his exploits, just like those of many other people, have inspired me to live the same passion” Anthony Beltoise confides. “I wanted to follow his footsteps and to become a driver, which I have now been for 20 years. That’s thanks to him and I really wanted to pay tribute to him: Monaco and Matra have quickly made sense to do so. It will be really moving to drive that car on such a legendary track. It will be full of symbols and meanings for my father and his relatives.”

In the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, The Minister of Interior Patrice Cellario and M° Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile Club de Monaco , the CEO of Renault Group Carlos Ghosn revealed Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in Monaco , plans for the revival of the Alpine Brand and unveiled the new show car Alpine Vision during a dedicate day, with the support of the ACM forces.
The show car Alpine Vision combines sensual design with outstanding agility, true to the great Alpine A110 Berlinette loved and admired by enthusiasts around the world. Alpine Vision is powered by a new 4 cylinder turbocharged engine, built by experts at Renault Sport, and its low weight will allow the car to achieve 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4.5 seconds – the target for the future production model.
Over the next 12 months, the Alpine team will focus on building an outstanding car, very close to today’s show car in terms of design, weight, handling, agility and attention to detail. Priorities will also include building out the team and the network, and finally, to pursue racing. The current Signatech-Alpine Racing Team has already won two European endurance championships, and won the LMP2 class in the World Endurance Championship last year in Shanghai; and this year, the team will enter two Alpine LMP2 cars in the World Endurance Championship, including Le Mans.
Made in Dieppe, France, the new Alpine will go on sale in 2017 initially in Europe, followed by other markets worldwide.
Registered on the FIA Calendar and scheduled in the Monaco Principality’s program events from October 12 to 16, 2016, the e-Monte-Carlo Rally, wanted innovative by their creators, displays a “pioneering spirit” which offers a large place to the human adventure and the future technologies.
The Rallye Monte-Carlo “ZENN”, which was previously reserved only for competitors entered with a 100% electric vehicle, will now be open to the 100% non-polluting and CO2-free vehicles (Electric, Fuel Cell (hydrogen), Solar, Compressed Air … Etc. etc.), with 4 wheels, registered for road use, for a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 5.
For this new event, the Organizing Committee of the Automobile Club de Monaco has deliberately opened a new page of the “Rallye Monte-Carlo des Energies Nouvelles”, initiated in 1995, and the former Monte-Carlo Rally ZENN (Zero Emission – No Noise). A radical change due to reply to the specific requirements from the competitors but also from the car manufacturers, governments, car fleets or city communities.
The route of this new endurance event, with a total distance of about 1000 km, will be announced shortly.
