A legendary race in the heart of Monaco

The Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco is an unmissable event on the FIA Formula 1 World Championship calendar, and one of the sport’s most iconic races. First held in 1929, it is regarded as one of the most prestigious motorsport competitions in the world, alongside the Indianapolis 500, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Rallye Monte-Carlo WRC. Its unique circuit stands out for its spectacular urban layout, winding through the very heart of the Principality of Monaco. Both impressive and unforgiving, the Monaco circuit leaves no room for error, demanding millimetre-perfect precision, unwavering focus, and absolute technical mastery from the drivers. As such, the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco is widely recognized as one of the most challenging and rewarding tests in the championship. The next edition will take place from 4 to 7 June 2026, marking the opening round of the European leg of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The official ticket office will open in the coming weeks. Stay tuned! More than just a race, the Monaco Grand Prix embodies a certain vision of Formula 1: one of historical heritage, outstanding organization, and a unique setting between sea and mountains — making it a truly one-of-a-kind event.    " ["post_title"]=> string(44) "Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco" ["post_excerpt"]=> string(0) "" ["post_status"]=> string(7) "publish" ["comment_status"]=> string(6) "closed" ["ping_status"]=> string(6) "closed" ["post_password"]=> string(0) "" ["post_name"]=> string(30) "formula-1-grand-prix-de-monaco" ["to_ping"]=> string(0) "" ["pinged"]=> string(0) "" ["post_modified"]=> string(19) "2026-05-21 16:41:01" ["post_modified_gmt"]=> string(19) "2026-05-21 14:41:01" ["post_content_filtered"]=> string(0) "" ["post_parent"]=> int(0) ["guid"]=> string(65) "https://acm.mc/epreuves/formula-1-tag-heuer-grand-prix-de-monaco/" ["menu_order"]=> int(0) ["post_type"]=> string(8) "epreuves" ["post_mime_type"]=> string(0) "" ["comment_count"]=> string(1) "0" ["filter"]=> string(3) "raw" } }

The favorite contenders hit the streets of the Principality

The Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026 kicks off this Friday. On the Principality’s circuit, the battle promises to be intense between favorites Antonelli, Leclerc, and Norris. It’s a formidable grid, which will also have to adapt to new technical regulations imposed by the FIA.

The action is about to begin ! The Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026 kicks off this Friday, June 5, for the top category. The day will be marked by the first two free practice sessions at 1:30 pm and 5:00 pm. It will be followed on Saturday by the EL3 (12:30 p.m.), the final session before qualifying.

Even before the first laps of the weekend, the Stade Louis II saw drivers in action on Wednesday, June 3. As part of the Racing Stars Football Cup, Pierre Gasly, Isack Hadjar, and Carlos Sainz took on the Barbagiuans of Monaco : the drivers’ team suffered a heavy 6-2 defeat. But it was a good warm-up for their first battles on the track.

A must-see on the weekend : the qualifying session on Saturday, June 6, at 4 pm. Drivers will have to push themselves to the limit to stand out and secure a desired pole position in the Principality. This is the moment when drivers can really stand out. The race will take place, as usual, on Sunday at 3 pm.

Antonelli facing the Masters of the Principality

Undefeated since the Chinese Grand Prix, Kimi Antonelli has established himself as the undisputed leader so far this season. With four consecutive wins and a consistent presence on the podium since Melbourne, the statistics point to another top-tier performance for the Mercedes driver. Although he currently boasts the fastest pace behind the wheel of the most competitive car on the grid, the Italian will nevertheless have to contend with a mixed result in the Principality. In 2025, his weekend ended with an 18th-place finish in the race, three laps behind the leader. Despite this previous experience, Kimi Antonelli heads into the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026 as the natural favourite.

Local hero Charles Leclerc is also a clear contender for victory following his win in 2024 and his 2nd place finish last year. While the Scuderia Ferrari car lacks top speed on the straights, it excels in slow corners. On the twisty Monaco Circuit, this technical characteristic could tip the scales in favor of the Italian team. His confidence on the track is stronger now that he has just extended his contract with Scuderia Ferrari. Having already secured three pole positions on home ground, he knows that dominance on Saturday is the cornerstone of Sunday’s success.

The grid includes another strong favourite in the person of Lando Norris. As the current world champion and the most recent winner at the prestigious circuit, the McLaren driver has mastered the subtleties of the Monaco Circuit. As the holder of the track record and the most recent pole position, he hopes to repeat that feat : “It’s clear we’re not at the same level as last season, but I still want to give it my best shot.” He’ll also be able to count on a car that has consistently been in contention with the leaders this season. Beyond a simple victory, the British driver is aiming to make history : he could become the first one since Nico Rosberg to secure back-to-back wins in the Principality, while consolidating McLaren’s record for wins on Monegasque ground.

2026 regulations and a setback for Mercedes : the technical challenges of the weekend

The 2026 edition marks the arrival in the Principality of cars that comply with the new technical regulations. While the Monaco Circuit has historically been unfavorable for overtaking, the reduction in chassis width, combined with the introduction of “overtake” mode (a temporary electric boost), suggests there will be more action on the track. An upward tendency has already been observed in the number of overtakes since the start of the championship.

Alongside these structural changes, the FIA is introducing a major technical regulation this weekend. The exploitation of a grey area surrounding the powertrain has been modified. It remains to be seen whether this measure will shake up the hierarchy.

Finally, the unique nature of the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026 prompted the FIA to rule on regulatory exceptions. Given the urban layout of this sixth round, she decided to disable the active aerodynamics. At the same time, limiting the electrical power delivered at high speeds will slow the overall pace of the cars throughout the weekend.

If you’d like to meet the drivers, the MGP Live Fanzone will host the whole F1 grid on Friday and Saturday. From the Scuderia Ferrari duo to world championship leader Kimi Antonnelli, every team will be making an appearance on the stage at Place d’Armes.
