Heading South! It was at dawn, at 6am, that all the crews left the Champ de Mars in Valence to join the Principality of Monaco. A first road section to reach Saint-Nazaire-le-Désert gave the competitors a taste of the magnificent landscapes of Drôme. To reach Montauban-sur-l’Ouvèze, it was the Baronnies, famous for the cultivation of olive trees, that were observed by the crews.
In just a few kilometers, the landscapes, luminosity and autumn heat were already more Provençal… until reaching the most famous canyon in Europe, with its rock-side roads and dizzying summits. Le Verdon, with its 10,000 corners, leads in the most beautiful way towards the much desired Côte d’Azur. Beyond the sporting context, the E-Rallye Monte-Carlo is the surest way to be wowed!
Philippe Segura and Xavier Baux, respectively Firefighter and Prince’s Rifleman carry the colours of the Monegasque Public Services!
Complete beginners, their initial objective was to reach Monaco, but the two men who discovered the intricacies of the discipline at the start of the rally yesterday… have already won their first victory in the second Regularity Stage of the morning.
They are burning with enthusiasm! Particularly impressed by the quality of the other crews and the rigour of the organisation of the ACM, Philippe and Xavier regained their competitive spirit and revised their objectives upwards.
This Thursday evening marks the end of leg 3. This morning the 3 Regularity Stages were won by 3 different brands!
The Monegasque crew, Jacques Pastor/Serge Pastor, on Kia E-Niro won the RS4. In the RS5, Monaco still shone with the representatives of the Public Services (on BMW I3) Philippe Segura/Xavier Baux. In the RS6, it was the inflexible Didier Malga/Anne-Valérie Bonnel duo that gave Porsche (Taycan) their first electric success. Leg 4, with the only Regularity Stage (number 7), saw Serge Garosi/Michel Périn coming back with their Renault Zoé.
Overall, on the provisional podium we find tonight, only separated by 20 small points, Frederic Lansiaux/Nicolas Buhot on VW ID4, J.Guillaume Jamin/Stephane Loraux on Skoda Enyaq and Frédéric Ozon/Gérald Seiler (winner in 2019) on Tesla Model3. Nothing is decided yet, especially as tomorrow promises to be… eventful!
Eric Mendels speaks to Virginie Decorte, on the 107.7 Vinci Autoroutes radio station. The Managing Director of Easy Charge, in charge of the eborn network management, is about to monitor the entire event. A full-scale test bench to measure the progress of the network of terminals in the region.
Arrival in Valence, on the Champ de Mars after nearly 75 km of timed course divided into 3 Regularity Stages.
Only 10 points between the Burels Father and daughter, all smiles, and the experienced duo Pastor, honourable representative of the Monaco City Hall! What will happen next should be thrilling…
