E-Rallye Monte-Carlo 2020: Rendez-vous à Monaco !

For this 2020 edition of the E-Rallye Monte-Carlo, the Organizing Committee of the Automobile Club de Monaco has decided to focus its event exceptionally around the Principality by proposing, despite the actual situation, a new route, in the Alpes-Maritimes and Var departments.

Reducing the total mileage but not the number of 220 stage kilometers, as stipulated by the international regulations of the discipline, while keeping an equivalent number of regularity stages (SR), this was the equation to be solved, to allow competitors to make the most of the event in a minimum number of competition days. The Organizing Committee of the Automobile Club de Monaco has adapted to redefine the route as a whole and offers an alternative to the initial plans which should delight all participants. But this concentration does not mean simplification of the E-Rally Monte-Carlo difficulties, it is a certainty!

3rd eRallye Monte-Carlo (24-28 October 2018) – In the spirit of his famous elders!

For this 3rd eRallye Monte-Carlo, the Organizing Committee of the Automobile Club de Monaco has once again demonstrated originality by proposing a route composed of mythical events that made the heyday of its elders (Rallyes Monte-Carlo WRC and History). Introduction of this unpublished 2018 edition, which attracted 40 competitors (33 electric vehicles / 7 Hydrogen cars), and whose departure will be given this year from Nevers, Nièvre, Wednesday, October 24 at 2:30 pm.

Since its new designation in 2016, succeeding the Rallye Monte-Carlo des Véhicules Electriques (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999), the Rallye Monte-Carlo Fuel Cell & Hybrids (2005, 2006), the Rallye Monte-Carlo des Véhicules à Energie Alternative (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011) and the Rallye Monte-Carlo des Energies Nouvelles / Rallye Monte-Carlo ZENN (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), this third chapter of the eRallye Monte-Carlo counts this year for the 9th and penultimate round of the eRally Regularity Cup of the Electric and New Energy Championship of the Federation Internationale Automobile (FIA).

By definition, eRallys aim to promote new car technologies designed to save energy and emit the lowest possible quantities of pollutants and CO2. They also aim to encourage drivers to change their driving habits, with priority being given to environmental protection and the sustainability of the transport sector through the use of electricity as a source of vehicle propulsion energy. And that is exactly what the Automobile Club de Monaco has been striving to demonstrate for more than 20 years, pursuing with insistence and conviction its role as precursor and commitment in the new energy and development sustainable sector. “The Automobile Club de Monaco is a strong proponent in this area. This test dedicated to new generation vehicles has evolved constantly over the years, to always correspond a little more modernism inspired by the car manufacturers.” said Christian Tornatore, General Commissioner of the ACM and Director of the Event.

Real competition, reserved for vehicles 100% Electric, without use of extender, and 100% Hydrogen cars, this regularity event is very appreciated by the car manufacturers and automotive preparers, come to demonstrate for the occasion and in real conditions, the technological and avant-garde potential of their vehicles. “For this third edition of the eRallye Monte-Carlo, wished even cleaner and without any emission of CO2, we are satisfied to have attracted a number of competitors including the main protagonists of the eRallye Regularity Cup of the Electric Championship and New Energy of the FIA 2018 “, continues Christian Tornatore. “The 2018 list of entries brings up new generation cars, representing a dozen of manufacturers. There are electric models, mostly represented by market leaders such as Renault ZOE, Nissan Leaf, BMW I3, Jaguar I-Pace, Kia Soul, Tesla S, VW e-Golf, Tesla X or the Opel Ampera- e. We also have two types of fuel cell cars: six Toyota Mirai and one Hyundai IX35…”

The winner of the 2016 edition of the e-Rallye is …

At the end of a very intense last night, Polish driver Artur Prusak and French co-driver Thierry Benchetrit won this e-Rallye Monte-Carlo. They had started Leg 3 in 4th position, hoping for a podium, but the crew of the Toyota Mirai, at its best, did even better: another win in Monaco for the
Polish driver, who already won Rallye Monte-Carlo des Energies Nouvelles in 2013, as well as the FIA World Cup for Alternative Energies in 2015 and 2016.

We have two good reasons to be happy, after winning here: it was the first e-Rallye in the history of motor racing; it was also the first time for a hydrogen-propelled (Fuel Cell) car in competition. Finally, we want to thank Automobile Club de Monaco for this superb organization, as well as for creating an event of such a caliber, the first of its kind, which allowed vehicles of the future to show their potential in real life“.

Christophe Ponset/Serge Pastor, a very experienced crew thanks to its participations in all previous editions of Rallye des énergies nouvelles and Rallye Monte-Carlo ZENN (Zero EmissionNo Noise) , have eventually been rewarded by a well-deserved 2nd place on Sunday, proudly carrying the flag of the City of Monaco . They were very brave in their choices of charging locations, and they also finish first of all Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Alexandre Stricher/Michaël Torregrossa, for AUTOcult.fr and Automobile-Propre, were back with one goal, in ZE ZOE TEAM: finish as well as in 2015 at Rallye Monte-Carlo ZENN (Zero Emission-No Noise), when they won the Consumption competition and finished 3rd for Regularity. Thanks to an astonishing Leg 3, on Saturday night, they end up 3rd and fulfill their dream : to wear a tie at the Prize Giving Ceremony.
